About

“A ship in harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships were built for.” –William Shedd

Lauren. Also known as Lau (Lo), Laur, Elle, Souch, and “that crazy blonde girl”.

A twenty-something writer, photographer, videographer, editor, and day-dreamer; Lauren is incapable of doing just one thing at a time, and most days, multitasks like its her job. Lucky for her, by moonlighting as a freelancer-of-all-trades it pretty much is her job. Her day job is writing, and writing, then writing some more – which, for someone who likes words a whole bunch and always found writing essays in school fun, is also pretty awesome. When she’s not working or staring at her aquarium trying to count the fish to make sure they’re all still there, you can find her updating her website, clicking away on her camera, cursing at Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe products, or huffing and puffing at one of her fitness classes.

Lauren graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Brock University (be forewarned, she WILL spend hours talking politics if you get her going), and then went on to the post-graduate Journalism program at Humber College. She also likes, in no particular order: cupcakes, baking, music, ice cream, traveling, sandwiches cut diagonally, spinach salads, bright colours, moose, coffee, camping, dragonflies, twitter, the internet, and pretty much everything Steve Jobs has ever invented.

I believe that there’s a reason people who are in your past didn’t make it to your future. I think we should try not to regret anything, rather to take the wrongs and mistakes and turn them into lessons learned. One of the most important things you can learn in life is to roll with the punches and take things as they come. Sayings like ‘everything happens for a reason’ and ‘if it doesn’t kill you it only makes you stronger’ are not just cliches, and I think a lot can be learned from them if taken to heart. Don’t waste your time on people who don’t deserve it. It’s important to live in the moment. That being said, I like to live in the moment, but for some reason I still worry about the future. I’ve burned some old bridges, and paved some new paths. I live, I love, I laugh, I cry, I hate – just like any other human being. I like the beach and the snow, and one day will move somewhere where I can swim in the morning and ski in the afternoon. In the end, all that matters is that you did what made you happy.

“The most important relationship you can have in your life is the relationship you have with yourself… because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself.” –Diane Von Furstenberg
