It’s only taken me, ohhhh, almost 2 months to take and post pictures of my apartment up here in Timmins. My family has been bugging me for ages; I was inspired to do so after being at home this weekend. My sister is moving into a new house in Peterborough (for school), and she was sporting pictures of it BEFORE she even started living there… I figured it was about time to get my butt in gear as well :)
I realize they look tiny – but you can click on either panoramic shot (thanks PhotoStitch!) to see the full sized image.
I picked the colours myself.
♥ Love it.

What’s a girl stuck in Timmins due to a cancelled 7:30 flight to Toronto to do on a Thursday night?
What none of her family or friends CAN do (since they’re stuck without power in the midst of a severe thunderstom and tornado warning): track the tornado online.
The Star has a really comprehensive article about the damage and twisters – apparently, sadly, one person is dead (and unconfirmed reports are saying it’s a child) from the twister that ripped through a conservation area in Durham (the town, not the region).
What The Star is lacking however is media: pictures, videos, sound… so here’s some I’ve “collected” (aka stolen and linked to).
- A downed tree on Helendale, in Toronto.
- Not sure where these two are from – but they’re two more downed trees, and some traffic lights knocked over too! [One] [Two]
- A YouTube video of the twister in Vaughan
- CP24 has some good user submitted pictures, if you scroll past the article to the bottom.
And now, there’s a picture of a twister in North Bay – is the storm moving towards me? Probably not. Maybe though!
My favourite part of all this though? A comment posted on The Star’s news article:
“no need to panic, folks! CP24 has reported that the Kenny Chesney concert at the Molson Amphitheatre is going on despite the weather! I repeat, the Kenny Chesney show is a go!! yeeeeeeeehaaaaw! Bring the tarp from the pick up truck!”
… I wish I was there. haha!
Fingers crossed all this weather crap is cleared up by tomorrow so I can fly home for the weekend – if my flight gets cancelled again, I’ll cry.
Now, what’s a girl who was planning on going home tonight, and is now stuck in Timmins, do?
Get McDonalds of course.

In the words of Reel 2 Reel, “I like to move it, move it!”
Actually, I don’t. In fact, it’s quite the opposite – I HATE moving. Loathe it, in fact.
So why is it I’ve moved SO MANY FREAKING times??
Parents house –> McMaster Residence –>Parents house –> Camp Wahanowin –> Parents house –> Brock Union St. apartment –> Parents House –> Camp Wahanowin –> Parents house –> Brock Union St. apartment –> Brock Residence –> Storage & living out of a bag for 2 weeks –> Brock Tupper house –> Parents house –> Humber Malton house –> Parents house –> Humber 16th Street house… and now, to Timmins!
Count those, that’s like 17 moves over the last 6 years. Okay, in fairness 3 of those were half-moves (meaning I left half my stuff where it was, and only moved half). So 14 FULL moves.

The living room is 75% packed! The rest will get done after my new bed is delivered - so I don't have to keep a path clear.
By this time, I’m a pro at moving – I’m fast at packing, know exactly HOW to pack things, and clear garbage bags labeled with a sharpie are my best friend (they’re great for packing pillows, bedding, and clothes – and they act as a cushion for the glass coffee tables in the moving truck, bonus!

The kitchen is mostly packed, with a few notable exceptions: microwave, food, salad spinner, and a plastic keg thing.
But! – and there’s always a but – I am still the Queen of Procrastination, and laziness wins out over organization which is why I am sitting here in my mess of a bedroom, wondering where to even start packing!
On the bright side – I finally have a place I’m moving to: It’s a one bedroom, upper level apartment. Roughly 500 square feet, utilities included, pets allowed, off-street parking, and REALLY close to my new office (bonus!). The only negative is there’s no washer or dryer (laundromat, here I come!) and it’s a little pricey, but I’ll deal with it for the other perks listed above (and since I needed a place this week!)
Mother nature is letting winter have her last hurrah – joy.
It’s currently -1 outside and snowing… and I thought yesterday at 0 degrees with a snow/rain mix was bad! I actually had to scrape my car this morning.
So not cool.
It comes right as the Jays had their home opener last night as well (which, for the first time in quite a few years I missed – tear). I heard from quite a few people it was quite the gong-show, which makes missing it hurt that much more – plus, they WON! I am going to the game tonight (though as we all know, it won’t even be close to the opener… and the Skydome roof will be closed, thanks to all this snow.
I can’t wait for the weather to get warm again – hopefully this time it sticks around. Winter is only allowed to sneak back once a season. Take notes, Mother Nature, take notes.
