As I approach the end of my academic career, I find myself entering the workforce in a time of economic uncertainty. This leaves my classmates and I (and other graduating students, for that matter) in an interesting situation as we begin to apply for jobs. I feel like there are so many of us searching, yet so few jobs out there.
I applied for my first three “real” jobs today, in three different locations. This process leaves me feeling uncertain about the future – for the first time, I have no idea where I will be in a few months, let alone in a years time. I’ve always had the comfort of knowing that I’ll be returning to school in the fall; back to my friends, roommates, and a town I’m familiar with.
While the uncertainty is frightening (okay, more like terrifying!), it’s also slightly refreshing – and most definitely exciting.
All I know right now?
I’m on the job hunt, about to graduate from my post-grad program, and in a lease until September. After that… who knows!
